Abstract
We studied 343 men who underwent V-V shape 1-layer microsurgical vasovasostomy during the last 10 years (1983 to 1993). Patency rates were 90.7% (225/248) and pregnancy rates were 61.7% (113/183). Better results were obtained when there was
shorter
obstructive interval and bilateral presence of the spermatic fluid from testicular end of the vas deferens. Neither presence nor absence of a vasectomy nodule nor repeat vasovasostomy nor type of anesthesia affected results. The major advantages
of
V-V
shape 1-layer microsurgical vasovasostomy are technically easier with few sutures, better leak proof alignment, less formation of stricture due to anastomosis of wide and same sized lumen that created by spatulation, and also higher patency and
pregnancy rate than other techniques.
